- The completed octagon - 11-April-2005 -


Once the conservatory was well underway my friend Edite Hill suggested putting decking around the conservatory. I didn't need much convincing on this and on 29th March Quality Timber Decking started work on the clearing the site. So far I have been as impressed with their standards as I was unimpressed by the standards of the conservatory company. I will update this page with progress as things move along.

Would I recommend Quality Timber Decking ? Yes without any reservations at all. They are not the cheapest in the business but have delivered exactly what I wanted, they were late in starting but kept me in touch with all developments; they were late mainly because of the cold and wet weather and a demanding commercial contract. The issue for me is not in them being late but communicating with me, which they did without fail on a regular basis. I had other quotations but it seemed on balance that QTD offered quality with a proven track record - the old adage stands here - 'You always get what you pay for' and a good Kiwi one 'No one ever regretted buying quality' (no pun intended). Conservatory

Tuesday - a view of the 'octagon' which is now complete. Another view of the 'octagon' and the overhang holds my weight ! Wednesday - The posts are now in for the remainder of the decking A nice step is now in place - they didn't make any stilts in the end !
Thursday - a lot more structure in place now - downpours of rain - I expect the boys may have got wet too ! My swing chair (bought in Noosa in Queensland 5 years ago) is finally up (and very comfortable) Some interesting frost patterns on the boat early on the morning of 9-April-2006 The promise of another beautiful day to come I had been looking for a nice light for the decking for over a year and finally found one at Redfields Garden Centre in Church Crookham, Hampshire on Good Friday 2006
And it looks good at night - perhaps the light is a little bright. A new Rhododendron - Kiwi Magic - in my garden and my favourite colour !
